Nakusp elementary student, Bryn Wethal won second place in the junior essay, Youth Remembrance Contest at the provincial level.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 20 Nakusp made the announcement, while poppy chair Cheryl Truax and president Harvey Truax presented Wethal with the award.
This year there were more than 6,500 entries in artwork and literary compositions across B.C. and the Yukon.
The award was presented at the Nakusp Elementary School.
